FAQ:

Q. If there are 5 artists chosen, will there be a range in the ages of youth chosen?

A. Yes, our goal is to choose youth from a variety of ages! Of course, it depends on how many people enter and where their ages fall, but we will be choosing a wide range of ages. So, if you have a youngster who wants to enter but doesn't want to compete against 17 year olds, don't worry! We will be judging the artwork fairly and relative to their ages.

Q. How will the judges choose the winners?

A.  Our panel of judges will consist of 5 judges from various community agencies throughout Drumheller. All submitted artwork will be judged on the basis of effort, inspiration, and creativity. So, if you have a passion for art but worry you might not be the "best", don't worry! We aren't necessarily looking for the most flawless designs, but rather how much effort and creativity put behind it - along with your inspiration!

Q. If I'm not from Drumheller or the surrounding area, can I still enter?

A. Yes! Although we will only be choosing locals from the Drumheller area to be printed, we may display your artwork on our website or social media! Plus, it's a great way to get creative in the summer!

Q. I need more room to write about the inspiration for my artwork than what is provided on the submission form. What do I do?

A. No problem! Simply write your inspiration on a separate sheet of paper and submit it with your design!

Q. I don't have a scanner to upload my artwork. What do I do?

A. There are a couple options! The easiest and best solution would be to drop off your design template to the Drumheller Public Library throughout July & August, or you can drop it off at the Drumheller Community Learning Centre in September once we reopen again.

Alternatively, you can also use a free mobile scanning app like "Adobe Scan" to scan from your phone. If you choose to do this option, please ensure the design in the PDF is as clear and straight as possible. We recommend that you hold onto your original copy if you choose this method. If you are chosen as a winner but the file you uploaded is blurry, we may ask you to provide us with the original to ensure the best quality of image is printed onto the bookmarks!

Q. How many printed bookmarks will I receive if my design is chosen to be printed?

A. If your design is chosen to be printed, you will receive 25 bookmarks to share with anyone you like! 75 Additional bookmarks will be printed to be shared around the community!

Q. When will the winners be announced? How will I know if I won?

A. The winners will be contacted directly, either by email or phone, in mid to late October. We will also post the winners on our social media page and website. So keep an eye out in October! The chosen bookmarks will be printed in November.

If you have any other questions, please email Judy at  family@drumhellercommunitylearning.com, call/text: 403-820-2454, or visit the Drumheller Public Library.

Have fun and good luck!
